University of Illinois Magnetic Resonance Imaging Initiative

Mission Statement:

The goal of this cross campus MRI initiative is to facilitate the involvement of faculty and students from across all University of Illinois campuses in projects that require signal processing and MR imaging expertise and MRI resources that may reside on different campuses. The UIC campus has exceptional MR imaging expertise and MRI hardware resources for human MRI with 3 Tesla and 9.4 Tesla scanners with access to patient populations through the Medical Center. The UIUC campus has exceptional expertise in strategies for image acquisition, reconstruction and processing. Through mutual agreement, interdisciplinary projects utilizing on these combined resources have been undertaken to build an academic experience for enhanced publication, improved student education and more competitive grant applications.
